Silverstone, the home of British motorsport, has recently launched its Wall of Fame initiative which will be coordinated and managed by Investors In Sport.

The Wall of Fame has been designed to enable fans to cement their place in Silverstone’s and motorsport history alongside the most revered legends.

The development will form a lasting celebration to famous drivers and riders, passionate motorsport fans and unforgettable moments at Silverstone. The Wall of Fame is a dedicated area that will be specially constructed with personalised engraved stones with fans names and dedications.

The iconic area designated will be adjacent to the historic Bridge section of track on the former Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone.

Charlton fans cement their place in history

East Terrace unveiled by Hibernian Football Club

On Monday 22nd April Hibernian FC proudly unveiled The East Terrace – much to the delight of hundreds of supporters.

Chairman Rod Petrie and all-time great Pat Stanton, who captained the club during our centenary season, addressed invited guests prior to cutting the ribbon and officially opening The East Terrace.

The initial installation phase has included over 900 stones and yesterday was the first opportunity for supporters to see their names become part of the fabric of Easter RoadStadium forever.

Personal tributes, happy memories and family celebrations now proudly sit alongside all of the 2010 Hall of Fame inductees who are officially recognised within The East Terrace – including Stanton.

The second phase will include a further 300 East Terrace stones which are available to buy now.

Hat-Trick hero unveils tribute to World Cup winners

England’s legendary World Cup winning hero Sir Geoff Hurst has been honoured at Wembley Stadium with a personalised stone laid in celebration of the hat-trick hero and fans are being invited to join him on Wembley Way by creating their own special piece of history.

Speaking at the unveiling of his Wembley Stone, Sir Geoff Hurst said: “I am delighted to be honoured alongside my 1966 team mates and be one of the first to lay a personalised stone on Wembley Way. The stone marks one of the greatest days of my life and I encourage fans to remember their own special moments at the iconic stadium to mark a sporting or music occasion that has a place in their hearts.”

For the first time Wembley Stadium is giving fans the opportunity to be a permanent part of the venue’s history by laying a personalised stone on Wembley Way.

The stones can be inscribed with fans’ special messages, dedications or memories and make an ideal Christmas gift. They will be set in the ground on the stadium’s outside concourse along a number of special panels, each of which celebrating a legendary Wembley event.

Wembley’s stones will transform the concourse surrounding the national stadium creating Wembley Way a stunning new landmark for Wembley where fans will be able to share in the messages and memories of fellow fans from all over the world.

Chairman of Wembley Stadium, Melvin Benn, said: “Wembley is one of the most iconic stages in the world with an unrivalled history of hosting some of the most legendary football, sport and music events. We are delighted to be able to offer fans this opportunity to be a part of Wembley’s history forever.”

Wembley Way featured on Sky Sports

A unique project that offers fans the chance to become a permanent part of Wembley Stadium, has been featured on the Sky Sports’ programme ‘Soccer AM’.

The project is being run on behalf of Wembley by Investors In Sport and features personalised stones placed at several locations around the stadium.

Soccer AM’s broadcast featured the production and placement of their own stone at the stadium within a project that already features past and present players including the entire 1966 World Cup winning squad. The process is identical to that which thousands of fans can replicate with personalised messages at one of the world’s most iconic sports stadiums.

The ‘Wembley Way’ initiative follows quickly in the footsteps of a hugely successful project for the company at Emirates Stadium for Arsenal FC. Over 30,000 thousand stones were sold and laid in one of Europe’s biggest ever personalised stone projects. The two projects jointly reflect the company’s rapidly emerging status in the sector and Chief Executive Phil Smith said: “It’s an honour for us to be involved with the Wembley project and for it to be reflected on Soccer AM is a tremendous indication that it is catching people’s imagination.”

 

Kaiser Chiefs give thumbs up to “The Stones”!

Indie pop band, the Kaiser Chiefs have been honoured with their own personalised stone on the Wembley Way project being delivered by Investors In Sport. Lead singer, Ricky Wilson and bass player Simon Rix were given a special Wembley tour during which they viewed the stones currently situated around the Bobby Moore statue on the stadium concourse.

The band are big fans of Leeds United and are avidly following England’s progress at the Euro 2012 Championships. Visiting the national stadium and the famous dressing rooms brought a lump to the throat of the two rock stars who have played concerts all over the world and Simon Cox said: “Being presented with a Wembley stone was a massive honour.”

Comedian John Bishop’s Sport Relief achievement recorded on Wembley Way

Ahead of The FA Cup Final clash between Chelsea and Liverpool, comedian and Liverpool fan, John Bishop, was presented with a personalised stone to celebrate his achievements earlier this year in which he raised over £4m for Sport Relief.

The stone will take its place in history on Wembley Way alongside those of football fans from around the world and legends including members of England’s 1966 World Cup winning team and one of John’s heroes – Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

At the unveiling of his Wembley Way Stone, John Bishop said: “This year has been a whirlwind and to be named alongside some absolute legends and be honoured by Wembley Stadium is unbelievable! When I first signed up to complete the Sport Relief challenge I didn’t imagine for a second that my achievements would be remembered. A big thank you to Wembley and everyone who donated money whilst I was completing my exhausting journey from Paris to London”.

In February, John set off on a gruelling challenge to cycle, row and run over 290 miles from Paris to London in 5 days in order to raise money for Sport Relief, who help people living tough lives both in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. John’s fundraising efforts alone raised over £4 million for the cause.

Roger Maslin, Managing Director of Wembley Stadium, said: “What John accomplished is a true inspiration to all, and here at Wembley we thought there was no better way to show our appreciation for a football fan who has gone to such incredible lengths to raise money for charity.”

VINNIE URGES FANS TO BECOME WEMBLEY LEGENDS

FA Cup winner and Hollywood hardman Vinnie Jones has returned to Wembley for the first time in nearly 25 years, to star in an interactive film in which he presents fans with their personalised Wembley Way stone.

The project is being managed by Investors In Sport on behalf of Wembley Stadium and on www.wembleystadium.com/wembleyway, Vinnie invites fans to write a message on a stone for themselves, a friend or loved one and create their own personalised video. The message will then appear on a Wembley Stone alongside Vinnie’s which is inscribed with the words, ‘Vincent Peter Jones, for services to The FA Cup 1988’.

In the film, Vinnie plays tribute to the national stadium and the position that Wembley holds in the hearts of football, sport and music fans and jokes: “it’s a lot like Hollywood only closer to the North Circular.”

Once fans have created their film, they can share their legendary status on Facebook and buy a Wembley Stone for real that will then go on display at the stadium.

In November 2011 Wembley Stadium launched Wembley Way, a new landmark that gives football, sport and music fans the opportunity to be a permanent part of the venue’s history. Stones inscribed with fans’ special messages, dedications and memories are set in the ground on the stadium’s outside concourse along a number of special panels, each of which celebrate a legendary Wembley event.

Vinnie Jones said: “Some of the greatest football, sport and music legends have played at Wembley including the Rolling Stones, Queen, Muse and even me. Now you can be part of Wembley’s history too with your own personalised stone on Wembley Way. Buy one for yourself or a mate and then tell everyone about the new Wembley legend.”

So far two panels have been unveiled at Wembley. The first commemorates England’s World Cup win in 1966 and contains the personalised stones for all eleven players from the winning team. The second location celebrates the 2007 England v Brazil game, which was the first international match at the new Wembley Stadium. It includes stones for all the members of the current England squad who have achieved their 50th cap.
